Big Grab weekend is back

BLYTHEWOOD/FAIRFIELD  –  Clear out the trunk and grab your cash: The “Big Grab,” one of the largest community yard sales in the South, kicks off on Friday.

Stretching across a 50-mile “figure-8” loop, the annual post-Labor Day event connects Blythewood, Ridgeway, and Winnsboro, drawing treasure hunters from across the region. Shopping hours run from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11, and from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12.

The massive shopping trail follows a continuous loop along major local highways. Starting in Blythewood, shoppers can head north along Highway 21 into Ridgeway, take Highway 34 into Winnsboro, and browse sales along the Highway 321 Bypass, Highway 200, and through downtown Winnsboro. The route then circles back south along Highway 321 toward Blythewood, turning onto Blythewood Road to reconnect with Highway 21.

While independent yard sales line the roadside, several major hubs feature dozens of sellers in a single stop.

In Blythewood, shoppers will find clusters at Doko Meadows Park on the amphitheater side, the Blythewood Rodeo grounds, St. Mark’s Lutheran, Beulah UMC, Fair Lawn UMC, and Universal Kids School of Excellence. Trinity United Methodist Church is pairing its sales with “Trinity Fest,” featuring food trucks, a bake sale, face painting, and live music. Two additional stops—New Kirk Presbyterian and Pine View Baptist—will join the festivities on Saturday only.

Across the county line, Ridgeway hosts heavy vendor setups at The Cotton Yard downtown, the Ridgeway Recreation Center, Purity Lodge #42 on Scarlet Lane, and Rodger Branham’s Auto Parts. Continuing toward Winnsboro, shoppers can hit major roadside clusters at ATOM Rail along Highway 34.

In downtown Winnsboro, popular stops include the Pine Tree Playhouse, Stephen Greene Baptist (Friday only), and First United Methodist Church, where the local Lions Club will be selling hot dogs and drinks on Friday. From there, stop by Porter Gas on Highway 200, and First Baptist Church on Newberry Road before turning back onto Highway 321 to loop back to Blythewood.

The Big Grab is a rain-or-shine event with no makeup dates. Shoppers are strongly encouraged to bring plenty of cash, as many private and roadside sellers are not equipped to accept cards or digital payments.
