WINNSBORO — Beginning Saturday, Oct. 17, the Fairfield Community Food Bank is expanding its operations to open on the third Saturday of every month, offering a new weekend window for local residents in need of food assistance. Saturday hours will run from 10 a.m. to noon at the food bank in Winnsboro.
The expanded schedule is specifically intended to help working individuals, caregivers, and families who cannot visit during weekday distribution times to enroll as clients and receive assistance.
“By opening one Saturday each month, we hope to make it easier for neighbors to get connected with the food assistance they need,” said Wendy Luce, executive director of the food bank.
The food bank will continue to maintain its regular weekday schedule on Tuesdays and Thursdays, open from 10 a.m. to noon.
Luce noted that sustaining the expanded Saturday hours will require purchasing additional food to keep shelves stocked. Food bank officials are encouraging community members, civic groups, and local businesses to support the expansion by donating nonperishable food items or contributing financial donations.
