BLACKVILLE — Richard Winn’s football team faced one of its toughest tests of the season Friday, dropping a 46-12 non-region decision on the road against an undefeated Jefferson Davis Academy squad.
Traveling to take on the 8-0 Raiders, the Eagles (2-5) managed to put two touchdowns on the board but struggled to contain a high-powered JDA ground attack.
Richard Winn fought to establish offensive momentum against a stout JDA defense led by junior linebacker J. Harrington, who posted a game-high 15 tackles. A pair of Eagle fumbles and a blocked punt allowed the Raiders to maintain short fields and control tempo throughout the contest.
Despite the loss to one of SCISA 8-man football’s top teams, the Eagles have an immediate opportunity to regroup and get back in the win column as they return to Winnsboro.
Richard Winn will host the Wardlaw Academy Patriots (2-5) in at Ruff Field. The Patriots head into Winnsboro looking to snap a skid of their own following a 47-9 loss to Palmetto Christian. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Friday.
