WINNSBORO — Senior quarterback Kamauri Jones threw four touchdown passes—three to Ty’Quarius Shannon—as Fairfield Central rolled past Blacksburg 50-0 on Friday night at E.K. McLendon Stadium to keep its unblemished season intact.
The Griffins (9-0, 3-0 Region 3-1A) took control early, erupting for 21 first-quarter points before adding 16 more in the second quarter to carry a 37-0 lead into halftime. Jones finished the night 9-of-14 through the air for 182 yards, connecting with Shannon on scoring strikes of 20, 20, and 25 yards. Shannon led all receivers with four catches for 92 yards and three touchdowns, while sophomore Scott Young hauled in three receptions for 58 yards, including a touchdown catch.
Fairfield Central’s ground game complemented the passing attack with three rushing touchdowns. Senior Kenyon Douglas punched in a 1-yard score, sophomore Caden Brown scored on a 9-yard carry, and sophomore Elijah Harper led the ground attack with 45 yards on just two carries, capped by a fourth-quarter touchdown run. Sophomore kicker Jason Marquez converted six of seven extra-point attempts on the night.
Defensively, the Griffins recorded their third consecutive shutout and added two points of their own with second-quarter safety. Senior linebacker Kingston Peay anchored the defense with a game-high 15 tackles—including four tackles for loss—along with two sacks and a blocked punt. Senior W. Johnson added 12 tackles, while C. Perry-Jenty posted 10 tackles to help stifle Blacksburg’s offense throughout the evening. Across their three region games this fall, the Griffins have outscored opponents by a combined 163-0.
With the victory, Fairfield Central sets up a winner-take-all regular-season finale this Friday, Oct. 30, at Lewisville. Both the Griffins and the Lions enter the matchup at 3-0 in conference play, with the Region 3-1A championship on the line. Lewisville (3-6, 3-0) heads into the contest following a 34-26 victory over Great Falls.
