WINNSBORO — It only took a quarter of play for Fairfield Central to turn Friday’s clash with Great Falls into an early knockout.

The Griffins exploded for 27 points in the first quarter and added 22 more before halftime, steamrolling the Red Devils 52-0 on Oct. 16 to improve to 8-0.

Quarterback Kamauri Jones was near flawless through the air, hitting 7 of 8 passes for 186 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

On the ground, senior Kenyan Douglas set the tone early with a 6-yard touchdown plunge on the game’s opening possession, finishing with 83 yards and two scores on just eight carries. Fellow senior Wayne Johnson was just as efficient, turning his two touches into two rushing touchdowns.

Junior Josiah Siebles made his presence felt on both sides of the ball. Siebles blew past the secondary for a 54-yard touchdown strike from Jones, then jumped a Great Falls route on defense and took an interception all the way to the house.

Senior Ty’Quarius Shannon added two catches for 67 yards and a touchdown, while sophomore kicker Jason Marquez drilled a 32-yard field goal in the fourth quarter to cap the scoring.

Defensively, the Griffins didn’t give Great Falls an inch. C. Perry-Jenty led the charge with eight tackles to anchor the complete shutout.

Fairfield Central puts its 8-0 record on the line Friday when the Griffins host Blacksburg (5-4) in a key region showdown. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
