WINNSBORO — Looking to celebrate Halloween in a safe, community setting? Two free trunk-or-treat events will happen in Winnsboro over the next two days, beginning tonight with the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office and continuing Friday at the county library.
The festivities begin Thursday, Oct. 29, as the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office hosts its annual Trunk or Treat from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. outside the County Administration Building, located at 250 N. Walnut St. Children and parents are invited to wear costumes and gather candy from decorated vehicle trunks staffed by local law enforcement officers and county personnel.
The candy grab continues Friday, Oct. 30, when the Fairfield County Library hosts its annual Trunk or Treat from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the parking lot beside the facility at 300 W. Washington St. Every child who attends will receive a free book to take home, provided through the McMaster Book Endowment.
Both events are free and open to the public, with no registration required for trick-or-treaters. Residents, churches, and local businesses interested in decorating a trunk and handing out candy at Friday’s library event are asked to register by calling 803-635-4971 or visiting the library front desk.
