WINNSBORO — Fairfield Central quarterback Kamauri Jones has been named the WLTX News19 Player of the Week following his standout performance in the Griffins’ 42-0 blowout victory on Sept. 25.

Jones was near-perfect through the air in the shutout win, completing 16 of 21 passes (76.2%) for 234 yards and a touchdown. The dual-threat signal-caller also made an impact on the ground, rushing six times for 38 yards and a touchdown to finish the night with 272 total yards and two scores.

The weekly television honor highlights a dominant campaign for Jones, who has guided Fairfield Central to a flawless 6-0 start. Through the first six games, he has completed 63 of 92 passes (68.5%) for 1,225 yards, nine touchdowns, and just two interceptions, compiling a sharp 134.8 passer rating. Jones has also added 155 rushing yards and three touchdowns on the ground, accounting for 12 total touchdowns and 1,380 yards of total offense.

Jones’ growth under center has unlocked a new dimension for the Griffins’ attack. Over Fairfield Central’s six-game winning streak, he has averaged 204.2 passing yards per game—nearly triple his 71.7-yard average over his previous 10 varsity games.
