County first responders to clash in Nov. 7 charity kickball tourney

WINNSBORO — Fairfield County’s emergency services will move their friendly rivalry to the diamond next month, facing off in a charity kickball tournament and food collection drive on Saturday, Nov. 7, at Drawdy Park in Winnsboro.

The tournament will feature teams from the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office, the Fairfield County Fire Department, county Emergency Medical Services (EMS), and the Parks and Rection Department.

Alongside competing for the tournament title on the field, the agencies have launched a food donation challenge to see which department can collect the largest volume of nonperishable food items to benefit the local food bank ahead of the holidays.

In the weeks leading up to the event, each agency is calling on residents, civic organizations, and local businesses to contribute donations to support their team’s collection total. Citizens looking to back the Sheriff’s Office can drop off canned goods and shelf-stable foods at the law enforcement complex, located at 250 N. Walnut St. in Winnsboro.

The Nov. 7 tournament at Drawdy Park will kick off at 9 a.m. The event is open to the public and will feature community food, family-friendly activities, and head-to-head games among the county’s first responders, with all proceeds and collected goods going directly to support local families in need.
